Obviously I'm not going to list all the various brands, but I figured I would through out this poll and see which of the brands ya all prefer, I'm going by the brands that are the best to the most popular used.

  4. Too bad you didn't list Lite-On in the poll.

Lite-On and Plextor are pretty much viewed as the top two, and they each do different things better than the other.

  5. I like my LG overburns to 99min and backed up my kids Karaoke(cdg) discs and Harry Potter cdrom. A pretty good deal at BestBuy for $69.

The Lite-On 32X is out and available at Best Buy in the US under BusLink. It was advertised last Sunday for $129.

I regret to tell you "Plextor" people, the "LiteON" is top dog at the moment, and matched with LT 163 DVD drive with either a LiteON 24x10x40 burner or 32x12x40 burner, make a perfect combination, and will backup anything at the moment.

Plextor's are good but greatly overpriced.

Why pay top dollar for a drive that will be out of date in six months!.

I have to say yamaha is my choice actually, though I've only heard and seen good things from plextor as well.

    http://www.cdrinfo.com/hardware/yamaha3200e/index.shtml

as far as plextor 40x, yep heard about it,
so what's next a burner that as soon as you pop the disc in its done?
    LOL.

I personally despise HP, but they seem to be popular, which at least use to be a mitsumi drive with HP's label tossed on, which tells you something there.

lite-on has mimicked plextor in alot of ways and that's why they are comparable to plextor.

    Aopen

I've installed 8 of them and all work well.

CloeCD's website has a list of features supported by each brand/model. This is my bible for wide-ranging compatibility.

  20. I vote for AOpen..it didn't make the poll, but it was cheap and has never pooped out on me. For the price it was, 1 year ago...$99...12x, I thought I'd give it a shot and I still have it and have burned on it countless times.

  21. i have the 32x Liteon i got it for $123 not $129 but anyways

This is good enough right now.
The 40x burn plextor is ridiculous at the moment cuz from what i know, thee are no cds capable of burnin over 24x

And for $123 for a 32x burner that lasts 8.7 yrs and thats if ur pc stays on for 8.7 yrs constant w\o restarting too! So it should last over 10 yrs under normal basis.
The lite-on supports overburning up to 99 min also.
Its the best for the cheapest price.

Everyday is another payday and I am one step closer to becoming the one.
