This is what i want to do,I have a rare set of old cartoons that i am wanting to make dvd of,i want to burn the discs on lightscribe dvds and i have software for that(some nero program that came with my LSburner)

1.I wanna know if anyone knows of any free programs that i can make menus with and isn't so hard to use,i want the menus to have like a "play all" button and a "episode"selection button" and background, music in the background or even part of a clip playing in the background(I did part of a clip playing in the background before using nero but i cant use nero this time for this"

2.Are there any good programs to make the picture for me to print and slide it in my blank dvd case,i need to know what size to make it(i get covers from sites and when i print them they are normally smaller and leave a big bar cut off on the side of the case)So if i need to change my printer size settings let me know please, and i wanna know how to write like sideways for the side of the dvd case so i can have that part done real good too, thanks everyone and sorry for the time it will take to help

You will also need a program to prepare your artwork in. Paint.NET and GIMP are both free and capable. Audacity to cut your audio and Aften to encode it. You might want to add EncWav2AC3, as Aften is a command-line only program. HCEnc to encode your video streams, which will also mean avisynth and probably FitCD.

You will always have to cut some of the paper off when you print covers. DVD covers are not A4 or Letter size.

The one click solutions don't give you much control over the menus. FAVC has a very good encoder, but the menus are very simple. DVD Flick's current beta has basic menu functionality. ConvertXtoDVD's menus are a little more flashy, but still very canned. Nero has better menus, but is a rubbish encoder and has audio sync problems.

Bottom line : you can have speed and simplicity, or you can have quality and functionality. You can have both until you learn the ropes. Once you know what you are doing you can use complex programs to produce quality work almost as fast as someone with a one click toy can produce crap.
