basically just bought a new PC, it has a tv tuner card. i want to be able to play my PS2 through the pc if that makes any sense, seeing as the tv tuner has scart slots surely this should be possible. but ofcourse im no expert on tv tuners so i have no idea if it can. if anyone knows how then please tell, if it cant then i guess ill just have to use my old tv .

P.S. im sorry if this is in the completely wrong part of the forum.

Yes it's possible, but depending on the PC you might suffer some lagtime.

Do you you just wanna play games through the capture card or capture your replays for games like GT3/4?

If its the former, your going to experience delays that make it almost impossible to play games.

If its the latter, then save your replays and then when you set up your capture, start playback.

I don't know anything about scart technology but can't you split the signal to watch on a tv and dump off to the computer for recording simultaneously?

What about using an old vcr as a passthrough device? Hook up the playstation through the vcr and output the signal to the tv and the computer. Or is scart significantly different than coax/rca cable setups here in North America?

get a pci-x card with a mpeg-2 hardware encoder onboard and put it in a decent rig. the only lag you should have is the 1-second the card is turning on lag. after that the a-v will sync and the card will do the encoding and leave you a pretty mpg file where-ever you like. Cost? $150 for a wintv pvr-150 on upward. dont get a usb one you will shot your self in the foot! hope this helps

    Welcome silith

First, identify the device, don't mistake a "video output" as a "video input" on the system ... other's have done in the past
Second, its vista, you have a bit of homework to find a device that is "completely" compatible with the os

As for the quest, Ive done this for years using vivo's, pci's, and usb2 capture device's, and have never suffered from lag of any kind
Where the problem can develop is in use of inappropriate capture settings which cause's issues for the pc trying to record, which is not "lag"
