I just tried it with one of my Vista computers on the (C) boot drive. Clicked, 'Schedule Disk Check', then restarted and it ran CHKDSK after BIOS finished. I'm not sure why your system wouldn't do the same.

And I wish I hadn't tried it. I forgot I have a 320GB boot drive. This may take a while. I forgot I have a 320GB boot drive. This may take a while.

Are you running Norton Antivirus by any chance? Norton has been known to block chkdsk. Believing yourself to be secure only takes one cracker to dispel your belief.
