  1. Hi, I followed this tutorial https://forum.videohelp.com/topic316902.html to convert my music videos to wide screen.

    I just have one problem with the last one. In the guide, it's mentioned that I need to crop a total of 144 pixels (72 from top, 72 from bottom) but on my videos there is not enough pixels to crop. The black bars are only 128 pixels (64 top, 64 bottom).

    So How can I crop, resize to have the right aspect ratio.

    The video AR is 1.71:1 => 16/9 is ~1.77:1

    The original:

    The cropped:

    If I crop 8 pixels more from the top and bottom, I will lose picture.
    Do I need to add back overscan for the top and bottom ?

  2. crop 64 pixels off the top and 64 pixels off the bottom. Resize to 688x576. Add 16 pixels of pillarbox bars to the right and left. Encode as 16:9.

    You can use FitCD to get these numbers.

  3. Thanks. I'll try.

    To avaid creating a new thread, can I also fix easily the bad colors on the sharp edges ?

    Is it what it's called "color bleeding ?"

  4. Like the way the red from the dress has bled to the right? You can use a filter like VHS for VirtualDub. It can shift the chroma channels left/right or up/down. But in addition to being shifted the chroma channels are blurred so you will still have some bleeding.

  5. Is there any other way to improve the capture.

    I do it wit the following devices.

    VCR (JVC HR V510ex) -> scart cable -> DVD Recorder (Pioneer DVR-555H-S)

    If I use a S-Video cable, can I get better results ? My dvd recorder as an S-VHS input. For the VCR I can use a scart to S-VHS Adapter.

    But in addition to being shifted the chroma channels are blurred so you will still have some bleeding.
    Is there a way to sharpen the chroma channels ?
