  1. Is it possible to make a 30 second clip from a .bmp or even a jpg? I'm trying to make a nice "insert next disc" extro. I'm using TSCV and I can't get it to accept the small mpeg still that it creates, any ideas? Thanks for any help!

Or how about a "black screen" with no audio? Same theory...

  3. Sure...there is a very easy way to do this. Go to:

    http://www.capturix.com/

and download the trial version of

    VIDEO CAPTURIX

(The program was so good, I bought the registered version, but the trial will work for making a 30 second clip)

It has a section called AVI BUILDER in the icons on the left. Let's say you have a single image you want to make into an avi to convert to mpg later. Load the image in for the number of times equal to the number of seconds you want. (15 times for 15 seconds.) Next, set the frames per second to ONE (1) FPS. Then click BUILD AVI and choose the compression method you want...the default is just fine. Voila. You will have an avi file which you can now convert to mpg using TMPGEnc. If you wish to use more than one BMP to make up a title, such as a black intro and exit, simply make a BLACK mpg and add it to you loading list, but be sure it is the same dimensions as the other bmp you plan to use.

You can use the MPEG tools in TMPGEnc to string together a group of short mpgs to make any intro you want.

I use this method all the time and it is simple and has never failed (provided the bmp files are all the same size/ratio).

  5. Just for your info.
TMPGEnc can accept bmp files too. If your files are named serially as in (abc01.bmp, abc02.bmp,abc03.bmp....) , TMPGEnc picks up all bmps. If you are loading a single bmp, you could add a 30 sec silence audio clip for a 30 seconds mpg.
