please cant edit fuji cam avi files

This is getting really annoying.

I have a fujifilm f31fd digital camer that can make nice video avi files only cant edit them as windows movie maker, and several others have crashed when I tried to add the files to edit them.

AVS remaker and editor wont crash but all I got was the tell tale sign of codec probs in that you only get sound with a balck screen. Yet the ffdshow codec the avi files appear to need IS installed.

Also I have a canon a75 camer and the video files from it (.avi again) will load into the avs video editor programs but I cant thenm load the fuji .avi files in with them for editing as it says diff frame rate and other problems.

How can I edit my fuji film camera .avi files with themselves, with other video files and with my cannon camera files please then set them up so I can send them to friends who wont have codec problems if theydont have ffdshow installed
