Plugins not showing up in VirtualDubMod

Hey all,
I recently used Auto GK to add external subtitles to a DVD and it worked perfectly, except for one problem: Now it will ONLY play on my PC, not on the two standalone players I've tried.

So, I wanted to try using the VirtualDubMod/VobSub combo to see if that would work better, but the plugins that I need aren't showing up when I try to add them. I DID have them installed during the initial installation, so I'm not sure why they aren't there, but needless to say, I need some help. Thanks for any assistance.

Try uninstalling then reinstall

What plugins? 3rd party plugins or the built in ones?

I'm not sure if they're technically 3rd party or not, but they are the ones it gives you the option to include when you first install. One's called "subtitler" and the other one is text something or other. So I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling and see what happens.

If you follow the directions there, the subtitle filters should show up in your filters selection as 'Textsub' and 'VOBsub'. You will need to restart VDM after adding them before they show. You install them in the VDM 'plugins' folder.

Ok see that's the problem. There is NO plugins folder in my VDM folder at all. That's what is confusing me.

Also, there is no exe file for VDM, it just has a minor install where it installs some of the dll files. I reinstalled both programs and still nothing. I followed the guide you previously mentioned, to no avail. I have no idea why there isn't a plugins folder.

No plugin folder? All versions of VD have at least one. You might try downloading VDM again as there's a problem. I suppose you could create the folder and put the sub filters in there. VDM should still be looking for the plugins folder when it starts.

And you should have a 'VirtualDubMod.exe' file in there. It's sounding like you got a corrupted download. Delete it all and re-download the program.

Ok now I re-downloaded VirtualDubMod and it DOES have a plugins folder, which is good. I manually installed the textsub and vobsub filters, which are now showing up in my folder, which is very good! However, when I loaded up the ssa file it's not showing any subtitles in real time, so I don't know if that's how it's supposed to be or not. Anyway, I'll mess with it more tomorrow.

I'm no subtitle expert, but if all else fails you might convert the subs to a different format. I use .srt most times. You should be able to convert them with Subtitle Workshop.

Make sure the MenuItem "View --> Output Video Pane" is turned-on.
