  1. I have a burned vcd with a hissing noise in the background
I was told to use virtualdub to extract the sound & cooledit to remove the hiss, but I have been trying for ages to get virtualdub to work to no avail (plus I haven`t got a clue how to work it )
is there an easier way & am I using the correct programs.

    any help would be marvellous

    Search Comp PM
Get VCDgear from the tool section and convert .dat to .mpg.
Open TMPG > file > MPEG tools > simple demultiplex.
Demultiplex the .mpg to .m1v and .mp2.
Load the .mp2 as audio source into TMPG, select file > output to file > save wav.
Or just open the mpg in VirtualDub, select file > save wav.
Open the wav in cool edit.
