  1. Hi everybody.
After so long time saving money, I decide to buy a macbook pro to work with.
The last decision I have left is to buy a model with Glossy or antiglare display, note that is the same money in both cases.
What do you choose... and, why?

    Think about it.
And thank you for your opinion.
    Guillermo.

I work on both types all day long.
A MacBook 2.2ghx for ARD mangement with Glossy Screen
and a MBP 2ghz for Image Building, email, etc with anti-glare.

Neither make a difference except when it comes to running my iPhoto
library as my screen saver. Then, Glossy is better IMHO.

Recently I have been looking at those macbook pros also, but their prices are high. I have found a deal says that apple is offering a sale on the macbook pros though, they are still expensive. I noticed that the macbook seem with better price, are they quite different from each other?

Check out the specs at the Apple Store online. Personally, I like the MacBook better (price, size) but I already have an Intel iMac (24") so my Macbook is truly my portable and not my main machine. I might feel differently if I had to choose a portable and -only- a portable.

  5. common guys, the question if not about if is convenient a macbookpro or not, I know this are expensive but for my job I have not another possibility, the different with the macbook is substantial.
I really want to know if is better the glossy screen or the antiglare one.
    Please answer my question.
    Thank you.

    PS: thank you, terryj

I don't like glossy at all. But both my HP's have it. I connect to a normal LCD for long work.

If nothing else, the color/contast on a glossy screen sucks. I refer to print proofing, not watching DVDs.

The difficulty is that you are asking for an absolute answer to a question that it is really more about personal taste.

I personally prefer non-glare (because it's...non-glare), but a glossy screen looks pretty (best when off). So, my laptops are non-glare. But my wife is different. She's not bothered by the glare at all, and likes the shine of the screen, especially when displaying photos.

My advice is to spend a little time with one of each type, doing a mix of tasks that reflects how you'll actually use it. I do a lot of writing, so the glare issue is a big deal for me. But I have friends who also do a great deal of writing, and they aren't bothered by the glare at all (Glare? What are you talking about, Tom?). So, it really boils down to personal taste, not an absolute judgment. All we can offer are our personal stories to give you some things to think about, perhaps. But the best thing would be for you to try 'em both out for a bit and see what you like.

Both my MacBook and my iMac have glossy screens. My office is in an internal room and has no windows but does have a skylight. No glare issues here.

I have a client with a new glossy iMac who has it in a corner room with lots of windows. She has to close some of the shutters but, frankly, she had to do that with her older iMac (matte) which is in the same room.

    My preference is glossy, always.

  10. I, in this case, have to agree a lot with tomlee59 in his opinion the task is very personal, but I have to add some circumstances to clarify myself in the central idea.
The difference between models is not a big deal because the glossy display is after all an antiglare whit a shine cover, this give to the look of the screen, more dept in blacks (black looks like black and not like dark violet, if you got me) and therefore gives too more relationship between bright and contrast, and how you say, is better for showing photos.
In my personal use, I work with video (filming, editing and DVD authoring) and I think glossy display can work pretty much better that with antiglare for video playback. Note too all my LCDs (tree Actually) are antiglare, and do know how its looks.

I guess my best shoot in this case is try to work a little with the glossy and decide at last for one.
But after all I think is very interesting this discussion because gives different points of view about something never reviewed before... guess.
Thank you all, for your opinion if someone more have to give other perception please bring in on will be gratefull.
    Regards
    Guillermo
