I am using the latest version of dvd shrink and latest version of nero
i have tried copying the flies from disc to disc and onto my hard drive and then to the blank

  3. What are you trying to back up?

Perhaps the source is copy protected? In this case, you might want to try anydvd or dvdfab

Do the copied files to your HD play on your PC ok?

The problem according to Nero is that you are missing some files:
Required file 'VIDEO_TS.VOB' is not present
I would check the output from DVD Shrink and see if they are missing there also.

DVD Shrink hasn't been updated in a year or two. If you have a newer DVD, rip it to your hard drive with DVDFab HD Decrypter and try using that for the input to Shrink. DVD Shrink is still a great program, but it needs help with some of the newer DVD encryptions.

If you look to the upper left on this page for 'WHAT IS' DVD, you will see the DVD structure, format and specification. Unless your files follow that, you will likely have problems. Look mainly to the part about structure.

No, you use it as a 'front end' to DVD Shrink. My method with newer DVDs is DVDFab HD Decrypter>DVD Shrink>ImgBurn. Fab is a 'decrypter' to bypass the encryption.. DVD Shrink is a 'transcoder' to reduce the size. And ImgBurn is only to burn. But Nero works fine most times also, just for burning.

Shrink works fine on older DVDs, but in the last few years, companies like Sony started using a more advanced form of encryption that it's not capable of bypassing. A few newer discs even resist Fab, but not many.

no, DVDFAB HD DECRYPTER is used to rip the files from the dvd disc to your hard drive. then you use DVD SHRINK to shrink those files so it can fit on a single layer dvd disc. search is your friend.....do one on guides using DVD SHRINK.

Everytime I have problems with missing or not needed 'VIDEO_TS.VOB' I just run FixVTS.

    Almost always results are perfect.

have you ever read any of the guides???????????????? also what software are you using to burn the discs? use IMGBURN after the DVD SHRINK process is done. also what brand of dvd discs are you using for burning? if you're using crappy cheap ass MEMOREX that could be your problem. use VERBATIM or TAIYO YUDEN DVD MEDIA.

I saw the memorex in the stats, too, and wondered about it right away

there is so much crap media out there now that enthusiasts are putting the cart before the horse by first buying the media...then learning the rest the hard way

None of my backups contain VIDEO_TS.VOB. Just burn with ImgBurn.

The memorex in the log is his BURNER.

Whatever the problem is it is not media.

OP hasn't said what brand of dvd media he is using. :P
I can read his NERO log and saw his dvd burner was a MEMOREX which is also not the best quality either.

The error he is getting cannot be media. So whatever he is using doesn't matter.

As for his drive, it seems to me that this forum has always ignored the fact that many posters use crappy, cheapass drives.

His problem is either cockpit or software.
