    According to NPR, Toshiba has just pulled the plug on the HD format. There will be thousands of PO'd owners, but hopefully they can pick up discs for peanuts to ease the pain.

    ... then there'll be those ferocious ebay buyers...

    just wondering about the gizmos that went with the format- is there anything worth picking up at the 'fire sale'? 8)

    also, did the best format win? Betamax didn't...

    They still make for great upconverting DVD players.

    There was no better format here. The specs are so similar that there is no real difference in quality between the two.

    Also good for playing h264 coversions I believe? (Not tried it myself so can't say for sure).
