Hey everyone,

Okay, first the bad news: I went to B&H Photo & Video to buy some Panasonic AY-DVM83MQ Master Quality tapes and found out that they've (finally) been discontinued along with the rest of that line in favor of the Advanced Master Quality series.

Anyway, this puts me in a bad situation since I need 80/83 minute tapes to get roughly 55 minutes in DVCAM mode, and I've been using the MQ series since I began. B&H still offers the AY-DVM83PQ Professional Quality tapes, and the AY-DVM80XJ "Professional" tapes.

So here's my question, which tape is superior in quality -- the AY-DVM83PQ, or the AY-DVM80XJ? Both say "Professional" on them but I'm looking for something like the old AY-DVM83MQ series, any thoughts?

Also, is there possibly another brand with tapes comparable to the AY-DVM83MQ line that won't cause any lubricant "gumming/jamming" issues with my VTR?

If anyone can help me I'd really appreciate it, although in truth I wish Panasonic would just put out an AY-DVM83AMQ "Advanced Master Quality" tape since it's the only line that's lacking a Mini tape with an 80/83-minute length. (The 96 minute tapes are full size cassettes.)
