You could start by stating what you are ripping the disc's with and what you are using to compress them to a dvd5 8)Originally Posted by sugadaddy

1) have you removed all the extra languages & subtitles you don't require? DVDShrink can only reduce the VIDEO tracks; it doesn't touch audio/subtitles at all.Originally Posted by sugadaddy
2) if you can't get from (say) 7.5 GB to 4.3 GB in one pass, just do it twice! Shrink down to 6.2 GB into a new folder, and then run DVDShrink again to get THAT folder down smaller. Of course, don't expect to have the original quality anymore, but that's the price you pay!

In the case of 3:10 To Yuma, Shrink will show the wrong project size, but the movie will actually turn out the right size. In fact it's only slightly larger than 4.7GB and requires almost no compression. this is not the only movie that does this. If you take Shrink to the reauthor mode and look at the actual file sizes, you'll get the picture, or look at the size of the VOB files on the hard drive.

3:10 to Yuma is listed as 122 minutes. Should fit with a bit of 'shrinking'. A better alternative with longer movies is DVD Rebuilder and HC, IMO. Still freeware like Shrink, but it takes a bit more CPU power and some time to do the re-encoding. But the quality is much better, again, IMO.

For problems such as these I'd copy it using DVDshrink and then use nero recode to shrink it even further and remove unwanted audio tracks and subtitles.

I had the same issues with 3:10 to Yuma and Good Luck Chuck. I didn't figured it out with GLC, but with 3:10 I ran a another analysis after opening it and realizing it was too big. (all I did was hit the 'analysis' icon at the top) That has worked fine so far. It shows it is the proper size and seems to be shrinking with no problem now. Try it for yourself and see if it works for you.

I had the same problem after using DVDFabHDDecrypter to back up a DVD to the HDD and then triedDVDShrink to reduce the size. Even at 90% it still had a long red line showing and wouldn't work. After using FixVTS on the files, DVDShrink worked perfectly!Originally Posted by sugadaddy

If you are concerned with the cost of DVDR9, I suggest you give some thought to spanning the the film to two DVDR4 disks over shrinking at all. It takes ab out 10 seconds split the main title. I have been doing this for four years and I was sure glad I had when I went to HDTV
