I have this sudden problem, i have been burning movies for a long time using decrypter/shrink/ri4me etc..
never any real problems, but i cannot seem to burn today, i have a movie in an iso, it is sized to fit a DL
i have Memorex DL discs so4) and i have tried to burn on 2 different burners a lite on shw 160p6s and a lite on sohw-1633, both with latest firmware, i know there both lite on, but thats all i have access to.

i get the error in imgburn, "Optimum power calibration error" on both computers, i am thinking it is the media, but i am pretty sure i have burned to a memorex dl before, ..not positive though

    what do you think

Memorex discs are poor - average quality at the best of times, and their DLs are even worse. Even if you happened to get a good burn once, there is no guarantee that can will ever be able to repeat the experience.

The only consistently good DL discs are Verbatim DL+R discs manufactured in Singapore. Anything else is hit and miss at best.

Most times a power calibration error is related to the DVD media you are using. A PC is done each time a DVD is burned, before the burning process actually starts. It checks the media and sets the burning strategy, then does a test burn. A PC error can also be caused by by a failing burner or a bad power supply. This is more common with USB or external burners. But it's mostly a media problem.

But for DL burns, I would only recommend Verbatim DL + media and ImgBurn to burn with. Any other program and media will most often be problematic. Some media brands are made by different manufacturers. Not necessarily by the company that has it's name on the disc This is common with single layer discs. And the quality control can change with different batches.

Try a Verbatim DL+ disc. If that fails, then you have computer or burner problems most times.

A firmware upgrade to your burners might possibly fix the infamous "power calibration" error message, but Memorex media is still crap.
