  1. Hi, hope this is OK, delete this post if not but couldn't think how to ask this without posting a link.

    Hope someone here can help:

I can't seem to save this video file I want to save here:

    http://video.yahoo.com/video/play?vid=232497

...but I couldn't download the flv file via my usual method (keepvid.com etc.) I wanted to convert the flv to an mpeg of it to then burn on my comp DVD so I could watch this on the stand alone DVD player that's hooked to my TV.

I tried to e mail the poster to see if they could sendspace me a D/L link but the e mail I sent them bounced back and I can't find any other site that has it up.

Naturally I found the same page embedded in the Google and AOL video pages and couldn't download it from there either.

So, can someone try to save this video as something (since we all save stuff diff ways I thought someone here might know of a way to do it that I don't and therefore may be more successful at it than me) and paste me a sendspace D/L link for the mpeg here or in an e mail/PM?

That'd be a great help as I don't know what else to try on this. Thanks in advance.

  2. When I click on the link I get a page that only says this:

    Date: Thu, 07 Feb 2008 22:39:44 GMT Server: Microsoft-IIS/6.0 401 Access Denied

When I right click on the link and try "Save Target As" I get the "Internet Explorer cannot download: Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later." dialog box.

I can "try later" like they say, but whenever I do that, it's almost always a permanent situation so if anyone knows of a way I can download the file, please let me know, thanks again.

Strange. Today I'm getting the same thing as you. Yesterday it worked fine: I got the link from Orbit, clicked it; Firefox offered to open or download; I downloaded and it worked fine; I posted the link for you.

I was home then, I'm at work now, but used Firefox from both locations. I'll be home in about a half-hour, I'll give it another shot then, see if location has something to do with it. Could be a network thing, but usually when I try to go somewhere I'm not supposed to I get a warning message from my company, not just a generic error.

I'll be glad to put the file up for you somewhere if you like. I'm pretty sure I haven't deleted it yet, but I could be wrong.

Your link is still working from here at my company, but the one I posted isn't. Maybe they re-directed it. I don't have Orbit at work, so check back in about a half-hour. If the "real" link has been changed I'll post it here. Or you could install Orbit Downloader, use its Grab++ function, and get it that way.

  4. Got it! Thanks squash, I'll also now know which tools to try next time this happens.
