I have a DVD that I have ripped using DVDShrink and want to convert the .vob's to MPEG so I can stream them to my DirecTV hr20. I use VOB2MPG to get an mpg file but they have no audio. When I rip using DVDShrink I am selecting un-compressed and all video/audio streams (I am re-writting them to a DL DVD as well). What am I doing wrong?

Can a regular mpeg file have more than one audio?
    I have no idea...just a long shot.

you need to select only one audio stream that you want to keep. like hech said it's all you can have in a straight mpg.

I had a feeling it was one audio only for straight mpeg...wasn't sure though.

Thats what I suspected...I will try a vob with just one audio program

<edit> Okay I tried ripping with only one audio track selected (using DVDShrink). Then used VOB2MPG - but I STILL have no audio (Though the picture quality is fantastic). Any suggestions from the experts? How can I convert .VOB files to MPEG AND get audio.....

    Rip it with DVDDecrypter instead.
    Select your ONE audio.
Set it to FILE SPLITTING - NONE(in IFO Mode)
That will leave you with one giant lump of video
with one audio....almost exactly what you are looking for
except it is one giant VOB instead of one giant mpeg.

Check to see what type of audio Vob2Mpeg can accept.
I highly doubt it can accept DTS audio....make sure you are
keeping AC3 or LPCM audio as your primary audio.

Open the mpg file in g-spot and see what sort of audio it thinks it has.

Also, what player are you testing with ?

I had the same problem of not getting audio using vob2mpg. When I played them in my Philips 642, no audio, BUT when I played them in my Philips 5982 I had audio. I discovered that if I re-muxed the vob2mpg file with VideoReDo I then had audio on both players.

Okay I do have DVDDecrypter but am not sure if I am doing it right. I have tried enabling stream processing and selecting just the main movie and one audio stream (both 2 and 6 channel) what mode do I use demux, raw or direct stream or should I not be using stream processing at all?

I am trying this in multiple players WMP11, Nero 8 and streamed to my DirecTV HR-20...

Thanks to everyone for the assistance....

2 channel and 6 channel is two audio streams.

Highlight the audio...check the demux box.
Highlight the video....check the demux box.
(may not be necessary but I do it that way to be safe)

Output to a folder of your choice.
If you want a quick test....just take a single chapter
of the main movie and test it that way. Don't wait to rip
the whole thing....then try to encode the whole thing in
    VOB2MPEG....do a test first.

Again thanks for the help...I was only choosing one audio stream, I just meant that I tried both ways and they both failed.

If I enable stream processing, set file split to none and use IFO mode in DVD Decrypter (selecting one video and one audio stream with Demux for both) I am not getting .vobs - I get a .m2v and and .ac3 file. Is there a guide anywhere for dvd decrypter, the website is gone.

    OH SHOOT.....you're right...why did I mention demuxing?
    DUH!!....Sorry.

I finally looked at the link for VOB2MPEG since I don't use it.
Do you have the required .NET Framework installed?

I would imaging that it can handle AC3 audio....but if it cannot
then you may need my demuxing trick to convert the AC3 audio
to mpeg audio or LPCM audio in order for it to work....then remux
    it back together.

I used to use MPEGVCR to convert my giant lumps of VOBs to an mpeg
file....I've never used VOB2MPEG. I know for a fact that MPEGVCR can
handle AC3 and convert a giant VOB from DVDDecrypter to an mpeg file.

It can handle AC3 and mp2. I have had no problems working with both.
