    is there an .avi codec called IV50 and if so, can it play somehow on a Mac? I have aQT file thata 'blank' and it might be IV50

    The IV50 FourCC belongs to Indeo Video 5, I believe. Unfortunately, as far as I know, there's no real way to play IV50 AVIs under OS X (they didn't license Indeo for use with it). If you have access to a Mac with Classic or a System before OS X, you can try playing/converting the videos there (as they do have Indeo codecs for the earlier Systems.)
    If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?
