Ok.. so I just bought Pinnacle 11 and I am finally going to try my hand at finally moving all my tapes over to DVD.

I got the DV capture going... and I was fiddling around with creating a short clip out to a file (mpeg 2)

So here is my question / issue... when I view the file (the mpeg 2 file), it seems ok.. but I notice that it seems to have kind of some horizontal shifting going on at times. Is that just a function of the computer rendering the video? Or is there some setting I have not adjusted... etc??

The footage in question was recorded in 1995 using a Canon ES70 8mm Camcorder...

    http://www.canon.com/camera-museum/camera/8mmvc/data/1993-1995/1994_es70.html?lang=us&...=1993-1995&p=2

I used DV capture on this footage (although the same thing happened using an analog capture on the same footage)... would that matter?

    Thanks in advance.

Ok... so I figured out the "issue" myself.

The issue was that I was re-sizing the video when I was viewing it. When I watch the video at its original dimensions, it views just fine (without the horizontal shifting).

It sounds like interlacing. You have to be careful when resizing interlaced video, or you gets an ugly, ugly result.
