I have tried the conversions described on the board to convert from PAL to NTSC but my output is still narrow NTSC. I mean that the format is not 2.35 but displayed squeezed horizontally 16.9. If I force SMPLAYER to an aspect ratio of 2.35 in the display software then everything looks OK. If I leave the aspect ratio to default, the output image is squeezed horizontally. How can I convert 2.35PAL to NTSC correctly?

  2. Hi-

Maybe I'm dense, but I can figure neither what you're using for a source (AVI, DVD, what?) nor what your intended output is (AVI, DVD, what?). In any event, that AVI for which you posted the information isn't 2.35:1, but 1.7:1. If you want a 2.35:1 ratio, then resize to one, like 640x272 or somesuch. If that 544x320 XviD is your source, it isn't 2.35:1 to begin with.

Input is from a downloaded PAL-AVI movie. I'm trying to convert it to an NTSC-AVI movie. It appears that it was encoded to an aspect ratio of 1.7 but the video portion was only compressed and not converted. When I force the aspect ratio to 2.35 in the SMPLAYER software it displays normally On anything else it is squeezed horizontally.

  4. So, like I said, resize it to a 2.35:1 ratio while reencoding.

Which software will allow the resizing to 2.35? I have tried 7 different ones and none has an option to change the aspect ratio of 2.35.

  6. You posted information from VDubMod so I guess that's one of the ones you tried. You can resize in it very easily, not by ratio, but by resolution, like 640x272, using one of the built in resize filters.

It was encoded with VDUB into PAL in a middleeastern country (romania I think). I need conversion software that will accept this PAL-AVI and convert it to NTSC. Any suggestions, other than VDUB?
