  1. I have searched through the forums a bit but I haven't found this.

I was trying to convert some h.264 files to mpgs mp2 more specifically.

Anyway when I hit the preview button in the upper right corner I can see in the dock it tries to launch I assume mplayer.
I get a dot and a space starts to open up for it in the dock but it instantly closes and disappears not previewing anything.
    How can I fix this.

    G5 1.8DP 4.5gb OSX10.5.1 ffmepgx v0.0.0 9 r 2
Is it something like trashing mplayers plist?

    TIA

The Preview button at the top right is not to view what will happen. Click that button to preview the converted movie while it's still encoding. In mpeg-2 encoding, audio is encoded after the whole video has been encoded, so the video will preview silent. It will not preview anything if nothing is being encoded.

The other Preview button, at the lower right in the Filters tab, previews the source movie starting from the minec position (default is 00:30 to avoid possible black images at the beginning). Simulates the crop area with a white-border in the picture, renders the subtitles, adds filters (excepted mpeg-2 filters), activates the movie duration on-screen-display, and plays the selected audio track. Use it to test settings before encoding.

Could it be that the top Preview button works differently than you were expecting?

  3. When I previewed a movie at my friends this weekend it showed what the crop and size change was going to be on the currently loaded video before i encoded it. At least thats what it seemed like, yes?

    TIA
