I have a DVD video that has previews that automatically play before the main menu. I opened it up in DVD shrink and have identified the specific titles as titles 6, and 7. How do I remove these, or disable them from automatically playing? I want just the menu to come up, so I can play a scene or the whole movie if I choose. Can I use dvd shrink for this, or should I use pgcedit? I am also a newbie to this, so if someone can help walk me through this, that is greatly appriciated.

Thanks for your help in advance.

I've never used it myself, but I'm pretty sure this is what vobblanker was created for.

I find that vobblanker is easier for this. Blank the titles and previews you don't want then process the dvd.

  4. Yeah, either blank them in VobBlanker and then process it, or, if you don't need to free up the space, you can use PGCEdit to jump over them and go straight to the menu. Here's a guide for that:

    http://download.videohelp.com/r0lZ/pgcedit/third_party/blutach/How_to_use_PgcEdit_new_macro.htm

You can also combine the 2 - skipping over them and blanking them as well - in order to free up the space. Just blanking them can create a several second delay before you actually get to the menu. Disney DVDs are notorious for this, because they have so much crap before the menu and if they just get blanked, the player still has to work its way through them all.

One other question. It talks about the importance of selecting the audio and subtitle preferences. I don't see how or where to do this in PgcEdit. I am in the trace mode and am following the steps. Please help.

  7. Assuming it's a retail DVD, they've already been selected.

It's easy enough to do it yourself, though, or to change the defaults, and that guide explains exactly how. Trace to the menu. Normally the "Play" button will be selected. Instead, click on the "Setup" or "Audio" button and trace to it, select what you want, and trace back to the main menu before hitting "Toggle PGC pre/post breakpoint". Do it all again before then going PGC->Jump To PGC upon DVD insert.
