    First question:

If you start up Windows Explorer, do you see the disk in your dvd-drive and can you open the folders from there ?

    sumeshkri,

Are you sure that you finalized the disk? That is, no multisession?

If you put the disk back in the drive and you don't see it via My Computer or Windows Explorer but you do see it if you open with Nero, chances are you simply haven't finalized it yet.

If you don't see anything in either, the only other options are:

1 - Crap media, as mentioned before.
2 - Dead drive, even if you can read other disks it doesn't mean your write capabilities are intact.
3 - Hopefully, you ran a 'test' session and never really burned anything.
    Have a good one,

    neomaine

Try to burn the disk with imgburn.

It could be just a bad burn. This program is much easier to use than nero.

    Maybe the problem is Autorun.
So your default player is trying to load all the music files (thousands I guess...)

Try to deactivate Autorun for drive, maybe this helps.

Or try copying the DVD to Harddisk - make an Image (iso) - Backup to HD.

  8. thanks for the replies.

i tried to burn in IMGburn. but i am not able to load a folder in Imgburn. when i click add it asks for filename. when i click on a folder namee it is not adding. kindly tell how to add folders to imgburn.

also tell me how to deactivate the autorun as suggested.

i wanted to remind that when i burn video dvd there is no porblem. dvd disks are opened very quickly with this burner. is there a drastic difference in video and data? may be the large number of folders in the dvd data disk??????? thanks

If you need to disable autoplay you access it from the properties menu of the drive from My Computer (or Windows Explorer). From there you can select preferences for any function depending on the type of disk you insert including 'Take No Action' which will effectively turns that off.

There is also a registry setting but that will turn autoplay off completely and you do not want to do that.

The new version of imgburn has a graphic screen for the basic functions. You need to disable that and just use the full menu.

The you select Mode > Build > Browse for Folder(the 2nd icon).

That imports the complete folder into the project. Repeat for all folders. Click the 'Calculator' to ensure that you are not exceeding the disk space and then click the 'burn' icon. The default setting also verifies the burned project.

You can also burn dvd_video disks that way by importing a video_ts folder into a project.

Correction (I was not using the new version). There is no need to

    either:

Select the top right option from the graphic and then the 2nd icon(browse for folder) from the menu list

    or:

Simply click on the Mode Menu. Select 'Build' and then the 2nd icon(browse for folder) from the menu list

If you want to turn it off completely:

Select Tools > Settings > Events and select an option other than 'Ez - mode picker' from the 'Set Program Mode' list

Once you have loaded your folders, select the 'information' tab and click the calculator to check the disk size

then, click the 'device' tab to select your burn speed/number of copies. A suggestion burn at no more than half the maximum rating of your disk. So if it is 16x then burn at 8x

On the bottom left of the screen you see three icons. A folder, a thick arrow pointing to, a disk. Click on the arrow and the burn will start.

  15. dear DB83,thanks for your continuous support.
i have checked the imgburn and prepared an image file of 4 GB.got a disk icon on the image file. two things happened for which i want your suggestion.
    1) there were 50 folders. for every folder i had to browse the drive (in total 50 times i browsed for adding 50 folders.)is there any option to select all the folders at a stretch by pressing the control key of shift key while selecting??????
    2. after getting the image file prepared i wanted to burn it to a dvd disk. for that i selectd -mode-write i put the blank disk in the drive.... then i entered the image file name in the source field and the writingdrive's name in the destination field. there was a checkmark in the test mode. i selected the write speed as 4x as the max was 8 on the disk. then after 12 minutes i got a message --completed.. then i checked the disk. nothing was written to the disk!!!! then once again i tried. this time i unckecked the testmode and checked the verifymode. then after 24 minute(12 for burning and 12 for verifying) i got the disk burned.... why this happen? did i go wrong somewhere?and when i checked the disk i found no disklike icon on the file name. instead i got all the folders name in an explorer window. i thought that since i burned an image file the diskcontent will be inside a disklike image as we usually see with image file. plz suggest. thanks.

To answer your first question, I think the answer is no. The option is "Browse for a folder" so I do think you have to repeat that x times.

I do not understand why you created an image. The 'Build' option is a single create image/burn image process. You will not see an image file on your hard drive. But you should see the 50 folders on the burnt dvd disk. It is possible that you burnt an empty image file.

    I'll repeat the steps.

    1. Mode > Build
    2. select 'Browse for folder'
    3. repeat item 2 until you have all the folders
    3. Click the Blue calculator to check the image size
    4. Device Tab > Write Speed & No of copies
    5. Click the big arrow between the folder and disk icons on the lower left of screen.
    6. The burn/verify process starts

  17. and when i checked the disk i found no disklike icon on the file name. instead i got all the folders name in an explorer window. i thought that since i burned an image file the diskcontent will be inside a disklike image as we usually see with image file.
    You thought wrong.

  18. thanks DB83,
the first doubt is cleared by your comment.
With the comment by Abond, i understand that i will not get a disklike icon for the folder i had burnt.i have got all the fifty folders burned. but i would like to clarify for future reference
you suggest that with single selction of mode>BUILD i can complete the burning process?
instead after the build process i selected MODE>write option.
do you think that the second was not necessary?

  19. DB83,
why i wanted to burn an image file because of the followingcomment i got .

<One advantage of using ISO disk images is that you don't even have to burn it (ie. keep it on your hard drive). You get much better transfer rates, loading times for games. If it was an ISO of a movie, you can play directly from the ISO on a PC using VLC>
i wanted to make an iso image file with all the fifty folders. that is why i first build an iso file. secondly i tried to burn this iso image file( i got a >name.iso> file).Because i burned this iso image file i thought it should have the image file diskicon. but not found. anyway i got all the fifty folders burned into the dvd disk. but i read that imgburn is quicker than nero. But had i select nero it could complete the bruning task within a maximum of ten minutes.moreover i could selct all the folders at a strech.
    thanks

Absolutely not neccessary to use the write option. In fact I cannot see how you did create the image on your HDD by switching modes. I just tried that and lost all the folders I had imported.

The only way, as far as I can see, to create an ISO on the HDD from the 'Build' mode is to switch to image file output by clicking the small icon on the left above the bottom two (plus the burn button). Then you select the filename and where you will put it on your HDD.

Playing the ISO of your hard drive ? It all comes down to what is in the ISO. A movie will work. A dvd will work. Music folders ? I do not know as you would still need a player capable of reading that ISO and navigating to the files.

Ok. You cannot import a load of folders at once as with Nero. It's a smal price to pay for a faster, and more solid program.
