  1. Great unit, but i have one question: What is the max video res that the player will handle through a hard disk over the usb?

I can play SD on divx and avi fine from hard disk, but if, for example, i convert a 1080x720p .mkv file to divx or avi - I only get sound. But the converted file will play fine from the usb drive on the pc, but not when i play the file through the usb on the dv-400.

Or does the 1080x720 file need to be downscaled to SD first? (Which defeats the object of watching HD over the usb anyway).

The software i use is River Past Video Cleaner - which i think is pretty good, as i am only a beginner.

Let me know if any1 has an idea.

[Just a general tip: Formatting the hard disk so that the player will see it is easy, just make sure the FAT32 partition is set as 'Active' not 'logical' by your partitioning software.]

Is it possible that your dvd player doenst like the avi in such a high resolution? I believe i read it somewhere that some dvd players don't support such a high resolution for an .avi ...

Not really sure about this. My apologies if i'm wrong.

    Your resolution is too high.

    From the FAQ at Pioneer:

Whats the maximal resolution for DVD/DivX/Xvid
    720x576 (PAL) /720x480 (NTSC).
