Is there a trick to burning Divx onto a DVD+/-R? I've burned a couple disks and none of my Divx enabled players will load them.

I used whatever software is built into Vista. I think all it did was record the files as data.

Use Imgburn in Build mode to burn a data disc. I have burned hundreds without issue. My preference is for -R discs, although it should not matter.

    Imgburn works happily under Vista.

  3. I use Nero Burning ROM. The DVD-ROM (ISO) template.

Yep I use Nero too, just burn them as normal data discs and my divx enabled DVD player will grab them fine

If you're using the Vista built in one, make sure to finalize the disc. However, the other options - using something other than Vista, would be even better.
    Have a good one,

Strongly agree with jagabo - multisession discs usually fail, so definitely whatever you use to burn with, you need to burn everything at once and then finalize the disc. Do note that some DVD players have weird restrictions on Divx files and I've even heard of file names being limited to 8 characters, so I can't rule out the possibility that this is an issue. You might want to burn to DVD-RW or DVD+RW until you get a good burn and understand what you need to do to make it work.

thank you everyone. at first I thought maybe i need to change the extension to .divx, but it seems that's not needed. I did finalize with Vista, but none of my Toshiba players can even read the disk: "Disk error." I'll keep tinkering...

I just used the DivX player program on my computer, which also has burning software, and it worked fine.

You just open up DivX player, import the files into your library, copy the files to the burn queue, name your disc and it should work.

I think I've found a potential reason for my problem. The .avi files were shot at 25f/s. I'm trying to play them on NTSC only equipment. Could that be the reason for "disk error"?

Normal NTSC and PAL frame rates aren't a problem with the Divx/DVD players I've used. There are a few older players which would only play files on CDs. Try the Divx Test CD:
