this is driving to CRAZY just hooked up dvd/vcr combo running through my cable box...SMART BOX well i was able to get the channel and volume to work with the dvd-vcr recorder but i cant get ty cable box to respond to either remote it's a motorola comcast dvr box and sony dvd/vcr recorder i have it hooked up with hdmi cable from tv to dvd and optical digital from cable box to dvd i can't get too my on demand or menu or my dvr need help![]()

Could be several issues. First I would change how you have things connected. You will likely need a connection (and for best quality) a direct connection from the DVR to the TV AND a connection from the DVD/VCR to the TV.
Most likely scenario, the DVD/VCR is blocking/not forwarding any of the encrypted/protected stations.
Also, your description of your connnections is wrong. Optical digital is audio only. For video from the DVR, you will need to use HDMI (audio/video in a single cable), component/optical (component is RGB RCA cables (three separate cables - Red Green Blue) which contain the video / optical is the digital audio, S-Video/optical, composite/optical.
The manual will have a better description with pictures.Google is your Friend
