I have finally decided to opt for a dual monitor setup for my video editing and I would like to know what some of you out there are using. I am currently using Sony Vegas 7 for video editing and have been for many years. But now it's time for a change. Can you help??

    Many Thanks in advance

Video editing doesn't require a high performance video card. The burden is really on the system's CPU. If you want to use dual monitors. most any dual monitor video board (sometimes called dual headed) will work fine.

Some regular video cards that have both VGA and DVI outputs come with a DVI>VGA adapter that allows you to use the DVI for a second VGA port and works for two monitors very easily. Or you can pick one up for a few $$.

I had purchased a dual head VGA card a while back, an inexpensive one as the decent ones were out of my price range. Then I realized my regular video card would work fine for that. Or you can output DVI to one monitor and VGA to the other.

All you really need is a card that will display the resolution you want. Video card speed is not really a issue with editing.

But for some decent dual head cards: http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/corpo/products/home.php

Every ATI video card I have had since my 9250 has been able to run dual monitors. Right now I have a 9550 and a 1650xt both running dual monitor set ups.

As said just look for a card that has at least two outputs, my 9550 is also running a TV/monitor thru its S-Video output.
