For some reason, after I downloaded divx codec and some other windows media player codec, my avi files never play the same anymore. The colour of the movie has a greyish tinge. What is the problem here?

    Thanks

Try play with vlc and see if you get same greyish thing. If you get same problem in VLC it's probably an overlay problem, check the displays settings. If not then it's a codec problem because vlc uses it own codecs.

Thanks for the reply, VLC does have the greyish tinge too. Where might I find display settings? Is it under control panel or for the specific player?

Edit: I finally fixed it, thanks so much, it has been really hard finding an answer to this question, I almost wanted to reformat my computer because of this, really thanks alot. =)
