So which is your favorite guitar based music game?

I like both personally. Though I use rockband 1 and 2 more often as I don't have a guitar hero controller on my xbox 360. I have guitar hero on the ps2 but I don't use it as often as my 360 rockband games.

I love the drums on Rockband. I know Guitar Hero will finally be getting drums in the next release. However there is NO WAY I'M BUYING ANOTHER DRUM SET! Not for another 80.00 or more, uh uh.

Now the new guitar hero guitar looks cool with that slide panel for quick note pickups. I may buy the game with the new guitar for the 360. That might be just what I need. The midi systems seems interesting. If it can import ANY midi file that would be sweet.

So how about you? Do you play either?

There should be a "it's gay" option.

I think it is beyond ridicules myself. It's not playing an instrument but something that sort of looks like an instrument and yet it doesn't even really behave like one (i.e., the "guitar").

Since you are not even remotely playing a real instrument (well maybe the drums to an extent) then I don't see the point. I really don't.

Learn to play a real instrument.

Sorry yoda313 ... no offense to you. We all have "guilty pleasures" I suppose but I find this whole phenomena of Guitar Hero and Rock Band to be utterly retarded.

Then again I find all so-called spectator sports like football and baseball etc. to be retarded and I am utterly stumped on that one as well (as in why so many people want to waste so much time on such garbage).

I'm far from normal though so what the hell do I know LOL

    P.S.
    I voted "other"

Sorry fulci - I have to be "pc" to some extent and can't offer your choice as a poll option......

You don't like watching sports??? wow... I love hockey and football (US football). However I can't stand watching baseball or golf.....

The drums are actually more realistic than the guitar by far. Especially with the foot pedal too. You actually are moving around like you would with a drum set.

It's all about rythym.. you either got it or you don't....

EDIT - by the way, I don't consider myself NORMAL either.... (and I'd get the feeling regular forum members would probably agree with that too )

Right now I like RB more than GH but that's only because I just bought the drum set for RB. I have every GH game made with the exception of the one for the DS... and I'm sure that I'll end up buying that one too...

However, I am still waiting to see how the new GH:World Tour drum set is. It looks pretty realistic especially compared to the one for RB.

Great, now I'm going to have to buy a new controller for my C64. And probably a dance mat. :P

(To be honest, though, I haven't really gotten into the GH/RB-style games.)

For sarcastic remarks like those please use the "not a gamer" or OTHER option in the poll please. Thank you. :P :P :P :P :P :P :P

Well that's not fair ... I am a gamer and I know of them but I don't like either one.

It is a valid response. You basically made it so that you either loved both or one or the other or sounded stupid (not a gamer or never heard of it).

    Guitar Hero.

Why do people keep bringing up that stupid, Why not learn to play a real guitar? IT IS A GAME. I know how to play a real instrument and I am not going to take the time out to learn a new one. I play this for fun mostly when I have people over. I don't want to be an actual rock star.

It's like asking people that like to play Call of Duty why don't they join the Marines. Or telling Madden players to try out for the NFL.

  16. Got Rockband for my son, for the simple reason that he found the "frets" on the GuitarHero guitar too widely spaced for his fingers.

  17. Your response is lame, FulciLives. My son and I are both accomplished guitarists. Nothing wrong with either of those games.

He kicks ass at both, I struggle with video games...

Hey guys I'm also a gamer, somewhat, but not so much these days.. However my boys love Halo and COD on the Xbox 360 ,and once in a while I jump in...lots of fun..I have to tell you,one weekend my niece and nephew came over and brought along their newly purchased Guitar Hero game with accessories of course... Frankly I can't remember the last time I had soo much freakin fun....Course that was after a few cold ones, and by then I was ready to sign a record deal.. :

My fingers cramp up much too fast playing guitar on Rock Band, so I like the drums and vocals.

I do also like making outfits for the characters, though I was hoping that they'd add in more costume slots for quick changes.

I'm not planning on buying the new GH unless it's really spectacular with songs that I like.
