Hello All.
I have Sony DVD Durner....it does all of the formats....EXCEPT Lightscribe.
I am getting a Lite-On DVD Burner w/lightscribe for xmas.
BUT i have burned(with the Sony) over 300+ movies in DVD + R media format with 99.9% success rate.
I have bought a stack of Memorex DVD+R Lightscribe discs.....and burnt a few movies with the Sony DVD burner...thinking that everything should be fine....well so far all the movies are coasters.....i burn them with my other HP DVD+R media in the same drive and they worked on my Sony DVP-NS70H player.
SO does that mean that i cant burn Lightscribe media in a non-lightscribe drive?
OR
Does that mean my Memorex Media is GARBAGE!?
I figured since it is still DVD+R it shouldnt have been a problem....
what do some of you think?
Thank You In Advance.

Are Lightscibe DVD+R going to be the same as just normal DVD+R discs?
Lightscribe is just the type of cover surface, right? -
you answered your own question re: MEMOREX! they are crappy media to use. try using VERBATIM dvd media. post your model number of that SONY dvd burner. SONY uses rebadged drives which means they just slap their name on the drive. At this time they're using drives from SAMSUNG. SONY no longer manufactures their own dvd burners.
yes lightscribe just does the surface of the dvd disc. -
Thanks...i am looking at another thread i didnt realize Memorex is Crap. I found some HP Lightscribe DVD+R online am I am tempted to get them. $7.50 for 15...not bad for a test. I used HP before with near 100% success....i knew i shouldnt have used memorex....

hp/lightscribe is usually CMC MAG-M01-00. not bad media, but best to burn them at half their rated speed.

So do you think...if i maybe re-burn onto these Memorex at half or lower speed versus the 16X i burnt them at it may work....or will it not matter....ie....stick a fresh rose in $hit.....its still $shit.
-
I am currently 85% done burning a test Memorex at the slowest speed...Sheck the third....vs the 16X i did the first time. I am hoping it works in my Sony DVD player. I will do the img burn thing with DVD decrypter when i am done. I dont have a Blank DVD of the HP i just used a disc i had burned.

WELLL at first glance it looks as though burning it slower worked. I put in Shrek 3 and I was able to get to the menu(which i wasnt before) and played a few chapters and skiped forward a few chaps as well....well i might have to go reburn all 6 movies i did at 16x at 4x and try that. Needless to say i wont be buying this brand again, EVER! Ill have to get my hands on some Verbatin, everyone says they are one of the best.
Thank you for your help and suggestions!
I would have never though of burning it slower.
