    Hi,
    New at this.

I'm trying (really hard...) to convert an avi to mpeg4 (for my Ipod), using MPEG Streamclip. But when I load a avi-file to start the conversion, there's no picture on the screen.

Anyone knows why? Or have a better idea of how to to this for free?

    Thanks!

  2. MPEG StreamClip use only QuickTime.
Not use VfW codecs or DirectShow.
Can decode AVI files compressed by Cinepak, Indeo 3/4 (not 5), uncompressed RGB.
Uncompressed YV12 and most MPEG-4 codecs not decode in MPEG StreamClip (QT).
But... try install 3viX - contain plugin for QuickTime (then Qt and MPEG Streamclip can decode example DivX and Xivd).

Can you play the .AVI file in Media Player Classic? You'll find it here:

I like to install MPC using these Alternatives:

    QuickTime Alternative
    https://www.videohelp.com/tools/QuickTime_Alternative

    Real Alternative

    Next install Haali Media Splitter:

Finally get the universal codec here:
    ffdshow
    https://www.videohelp.com/tools/ffdshow

I like this software to show the connections for the media and much more:
    GraphEdit
    https://www.videohelp.com/tools/GraphEdit

Now how is your conversion going?
