    Hi, all. Unabashed newbie here.

I recently bought an episode of my favorite show from Amazon, but I want to watch it with others - i.e. on my TV. The copyright protection won't let me burn the episode to CD, though.

I've heard of programs that will strip the protection, but I've been chasing them around for awhile without success. Now I managed to get AnyDVD, but it seems like that will only work on things that are already on a disc. Any way to strip the CR protection off of something that is a file on my hard drive?

I don't see why this should be any different, but AnyDVD won't recognize anything as a 'source file' that isn't on CD. Am I using the program incorrectly, or am I right in thinking that it just won't do this?

    A little help?

Here's another one of those one post wonders from a "new member" who wants to know about breaking copy protection.

  3. According to Amazon, you purchased on the understanding that the episode can only be viewed on your PC or on a broadband-connected TiVo Series2 or Series3 DVR.

I'm not sure, but I think these files are in some sort of proprietary format and are not true MPEG files. Even if you could crack the copy protection, you'd have to then convert the files to be able to play on your DVD player.

You might try CamStudio (free) http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=131922

and force capture. You'll need lots of hd, ram and a decent cpu.
