  1. i understand the premium version allows you to burn dvd's while the free version can't. can someone tell me or at least point me to a walkthrough on how i can do the burn part? i know there's a section called "write" but do i have to use shrink to make the .iso first like i do with the free version, then load the .iso into Fab? please help.

The best program for DVD burning is called "ImgBurn" and I highly suggest you use that for your DVD (and even CD) burning needs.

    The ImgBurn website: http://www.imgburn.com/

There are guides on the ImgBurn website but really it is rather simple to use.

Assuming you actually bought HD Fab Decrypter and didn't just download it from a P2P site, I would have to assume that at least one of the following is true.
    1) Surely it comes with documentation that explains how to do this.
    2) Surely the people who make it can answer this question for you, an honest customer.
    3) Perhaps there is even a forum somewhere else dedicated to it that can answer this question.
    4) A correctly worded web search might also provide the answer.

Burning a DVD is a delicate thing. There are many factors as to how successful you are and there are several levels of success (i.e., you could burn a DVD that works on some DVD players but not on all DVD players).

I mentioned "ImgBurn" because it is the best program for DVD burning. Period.

  8. I thought Nero was the standard of burning software. How is ImgBurn better (except for the fact it is freeware)? I've gotten used to Nero for years, so I need a good reason to change.

Apparently you don't read the forums here that often.

It's pretty much a proven fact ... for various reasons ... that ImgBurn is the superior DVD burner application.

As for DVD Decrypter ... it is now out-of-date. ImgBurn is by the same programmer and is technically an updated DVD Decrypter in terms of burning BUT he had to drop the DVD ripping part as he was threatened with legal action. So while DVD Decrypter is a good burning application it hasn't been updated in a long while now whereas ImgBurn is constantly being updated for new types of discs and burners and firmware and blah blah blah.

So really at this point ImgBurn should be used for burning and DVD Decrypter only for ripping although there are forms of copy protection that exist now that will give DVD Decrypter fits ... hence the use of other programs for ripping such as DVDFab HD Decrypter etc.

Unlike DVD Decrypter (which can still be very useful mind you) the newer DVDFab HD Decrypter is actively updated to adapt to new forms of copy protection and of course it can do the HD formats as well now.

If your talking about Fab Platinum, It does every thing for you.

Simply set the source DVD or folder.
    Target = your burner
What you want = full disc or main movie etc
Quality = single disc or dual layer
Press start = wait, it will rip, shrink and burn to disc for you! all done.!!

Obviously if you set target to a folder then it wont burn.

Ummm.... yeah.... because DVDFab HD Decrypter is just a ripper....

If you want the compression & burning functions you need to use DVDFab Platinum, a diff. program, the full version of
    DVDFab HD Decrypter.

DVDFab HD Decrypter, ripper only = Free
DVDFab Platinum, compress, convert, burn, ect. = Pay

You are still missing the point ... burn with ImgBurn and nothing else. Period. End of the story.

  22. still use Nero 5.5xxx on my old desktop for mostly DVDRs (some CDRs). have yet to get a bad burn due to Nero. gone thru 2 DVD burners, but still use 5.5. lost track how many DVDRs I've burned (1,000?), but still batting 1.000.

have heard versions 6.xxx as well as 7.xxx have issues.

I'm sure Imgburn is a great app as well.
