Authoring program? (m2v's/ac3's/mpg'sVOB's)

For some reason GUIauthorforDVD doesnt like my files, i can burn them to DVD fine with imgburn from the ISO/Video_TS files and they play but i want to make menus, are there ay other alternatives for free authoring programs that are as easy as GUI?

I think its theprogram not my files as FAVC didnt like my files but DVD flick works with them fine.

Maybe its some process that authoring goes thru which finds fault in the files? (is that possible? is authoring generally fussy?)

Also whats best to author with m2v's or mpg's?

The error i get frm GUI is

"(shrink and) mux video and audio files
INFO: [???] mplex version 2.0.0 (2.2.3 $Date: 2004/01/13 20:45:26 $)
**ERROR: [???] Unable to open file of for reading."

Its letting me author with the mpg,s and ive created a video_TS then made an iso with imgburn and then burnt the iso but 1/2 way thru burining it says incompatable format and crashes

Guess im just gonn have to go without menus...at least i got working dvds now...
