I noticed in the videora profiles we have h.264 768k, h.264, 768k 2-pass, and h.264 768k avisynth for both vga and qvga. What is the difference between these settings? Will they all work on 5g classic ipod? Which is the best quality? Can I make a custom profile that has any better quality that the these profiles? I'm not concerned with file size or time it takes to encode, just that the final vid is h.264 and it plays on my ipod. Thanks guys

i spent some time with videora converters and i suggest you download and install videora apple TV converter. I had problems with the videora ipod and iphone converters.

I have an iPhone but I know that it supports the same res for converted videos as the ipod....up to 640 x 480.

I know from trial and error that 2-pass and avisynth do not work (the conversion will fail to complete or the video will fail to copy to your ipod or iphone). And any value that is an odd number will not work either. must be even

What you want to do is create a new profile in the settings tab. i posted my settings at Redkawa.com forum. click here

here is a 10 second sample video i converted using the settings. click here. You can drag it to itunes and sync it to your ipod without any problem. and it still looks good when you play it on your desktop fullscreen.

the profile i used removes the black bars too, but if for some reason you don't want to remove them just keep the crop values at 0.

the res is 640 x 360 so if you use the TV-out feature on your ipod or iphone the video will still look ok.

just copy my settings first and start converting your video. before you convert the whole video, try converting 10 seconds to check for errors by entering '10' in the encoding duration field. convert and sync it to you ipod and if it plays, enter the entire length of the video (in seconds) in the encoding duration field to convert the whole video.

it took me a long time to get the program to convert the way i wanted it to...i played with alot of settings. the crop values were difficult to understand but a member from redkawa.com explained it to me. hope the settings work out for you.

oh and if you have codecs installed like divx or xvid or other packs...i would uninstall all of them first and just stick to one codec pack. k-lite mega codec works for me. if you decide to use this, when you install it. uncheck Divx from the install.
