pink snow from dvp3960

i have a philips dvp 3960 and a philips 51" hd capable tv. the player should upconvert but only through the dvi so i bought an hdmi/dvi cable and hooked it up. while the player is loading i get a flickering picture and when the dvd is loaded it turns to pink "snow". in the menu there is an option to choose which resolution u want but it stays greyed out with only the auto button lit up. any help would be appreciated.

tried the player on my brothers tv and it worked just fine. its the tv not the player.

Have you changed the output in the video setup menu? Most players you have to manually set the output type (S-Video/Component/HDMI/DVI), screen type (4:3 or 16:9), and format (NTSC/PAL/AUTO). Your TV may also have settings for the DVI input.
