    Hi,

I'm frustrated know I hear Blockbuster online is going to stop Renting
them too. You know some I just want to watch once in HD, not buy to
    never watch again..

Anybody know if there are even going to be new titles coming out
and will they still produce the old titles?????

    Thanks.

  2. There is no guarantee of new releases.

There are enough HD-DVD players out there to support a niche market.

Don't expect a lot. Releases that were ready or near complete should still be released. After that only a few big titles will be released in the coming year, as there is probably still a big enough market for those.

This is a long shot, but keep an eye out for CH-DVD titles, as they are supposed to be supported on the HD-DVD players.

I don't think you will find rental businesses picking any of these titles up, but you never know.

They will produce the old titles only if there is a demand for them. This is not very likely. Ebay will be the marketplace for these titles.

With AACS broken studios won't want to release anything on HD-DVD for much longer.

China's version of HD DVD,the chances of this format being released outside of China are slim to none.

    Thanks.

If it's coming from China, I don't want to hear anymore. With all the crap their exporting lately, I wouldn't be surprised if I put it into my hd-dvd player and got cancer from it.

With the amount of red ink it's amassed over the past few years, it's a wonder that Blockbuster exists at all. If things ever start to take off with Internet content then they will die too. Most renters I know are using things like Zip.ca to get stuff Blockbuster doesn't want to handle (foreign films, independent productions, etc.). Seems to me that Blockbuster's model is out of date...

Their stock has been on a downhill ride but with $5.5 billion in sales during the past 12 months they are still a strong player in the retail movie and game entertainment sector. FYI - in August 2007 Blockbuster aquired Movielink, a movie download service provider. Don't know if they have done anything operational with that yet, but with their distribution and studio relationships they are poised to enter that market place in a strong position.
