  1. I am making an mpeg (sometimes avi) mpeg that will be imported as my title for a PAL DVD video project, may i know what pixel aspect ratio to choose as the program i am using does have a selection of pixel aspect ratio for the exported mpeg/avi. I am confused between PAL 720 x 576 1: 1 pixel aspect ratio and PAL 720 x 576 with Pixel aspect ratio 1: 1.0926 or is it that i can use either and the necessary changes will be made by my editing program when i finally render the movie?

Never bothered with that - just encode as 720x576, and set the AR flag to 4:3 or 16:9.

DVD pixels are non-square. Both 4:3 and 16:9 are stored as 720x576.

When displayed in square pixels, 4:3 is h stretched to 768x576 and 16:9 is h stretched to 1024x576.
