I'm thinking of buying the Sony HDR-SR5/7/8 as my first HD-camera. I have read the manual and have some questions regarding editing in-camera.
The DIVIDE function (page48 in the manual), how usable is it?
The PLAYLIST function (page 50), is there any space between the clips in the playslist during playback? Can you have more than one playlist?
The reason for these questions is that my computer is barely capable of editing dv, so editing hd will have to wait for now.
But in the mean time I would like to at least be able to ged rid of excess footage in-camera, i.e. from a 3min clip I maybe only need 30sec in the middle. That's where the divide functions seems promising and also the possibility to add together clips (edited in-camera) into a playlist watchable on TV.
That would solve my immediate needs anyway.
