got this unit 2 months ago, it has been back to the manifacturer 3 times.
Firstly the made me buy a £25 HDMI cable befour they would look at the unit

Samsung have now told me that SKY is incompatible with the unit and some of there LCD tvs.
The other point they made was that dispite the fact they recognise the unit will not work in my house tough change your SKY box.

To this day I have not managed to watch a single DVD on the unit never mind record.

Word of warning samsungs look nice, but if anything goes wrong and you have to use customer services beware, I have now had 20+ phone calls to them and still no resolution.

Well , if its got anything to do with "sky" ... forget it , you've been told by the manufacturer its incompatible .

As for "dvd playback" ... if it dosent work , and the cables are connected correctly ... demand a refund ... its obviously a defective unit .

For recording . have you tried recording from any other device such as a vcr ... playing a non-macrovision protected tape ?

Samsung are not the only one's jerking customers about ... this modern technology is simple not worth repairing ... ever read the fine print in the warranty card .

Some will repair your unit with parts from another , returned defective unit ... and at the discretion of the company , they may replace it with a new unit , or money back .

Well the saga continues, Samsung told me to get an amstrad box, which I did, and guess what? still don't work. So they are sending an engineer out on Friday. They think it could be a compatibility problem between the dvd and the samsung LCD TV. MMM they cant even get there oun units to talk to each other, I raised the issue of a replacement unit or getting the warranty to start from the date when the unit actualy works, They said they were not obliged to do this.
Oh well, last time I get any thing from them.
    Will update you all on

Samsung LCD TVs are showing poor behaviour with our digital signals over here as well. Some receivers cause the TV to simply lock up. Some of their kit does look, but I'm afraid I wouldn't buy it at the moment.

    I agree with guns1inger .

What we have in digital signal is crap ... constant lockups or non-existent at times , been better last few months , but no return from 9 ... monkeys could do a better job ... and cheaper .

If the tech dosent fix the issue , and I know what their like (couldn't find a light switch even if the light was on), get in touch with you regions consumers affairs office ... and pester the crap out of them to resolve the problem ... in your favor , not theirs .
