  1. I don't have much experience with multiple users on one PC. My mother has been running XP for quite a while now on her PC and just recently my father decided to try using this thing called the internet. I set him up on a limited account last night so I have less to fix later. However my mother's icons are still on his desktop and I can't delete them. Is there any way around this or is is just a limitation of the type of account?

Sounds like the icons are actually on the ALL USERS desktop. A restricted use won't have permission to remove them. Log on as your mum (administrator permission I assume) and move them from Documents & Setting\ALL USERS\DESKTOP to Documents & settings\YourMumsLogin\DESKTOP

  3. Probably so. These programs didn't have an option to install for just one user. I'll try what you suggest and see how it goes. Thanks.

VirtualPC 2004 or 2007 is nice for this. Put Windows inside of Windows, so he can't possibly screw anything up. You can make backups of the virtual hard drives. That way, if he does screw up, it's a 5-minute restore.

  5. I've thought of that as well and I am considering it. At this point, as soon as he find all the photos he can of the Lotus Elan he probably won't ever touch the computer again. If he's still at it in a week I'll have to give it more serious consideration.
