  1. I have just bought a ATi TV-Wonder. The capture quality is good enough for me.
But in MMC7.1, the max capture resolution is 704*288, is it possible to increase it to 720*576?

How to encode the MPEG2 format file that captured by TV-Wonder into Divx?

    Thanks a lot.

  2. from what i understand there is some kind of registry tool in the TOOLS section that will allow you to change it i think, but i never was able to get it to work. here's some advice though. if your your not a die hard ATI fan then i would suggest dropping MMC. there is MUCH MUCH better software for captureing in the tools section. might want to try IUVCR. with this i am able to capture at much higher settings than MMC..........

  3. I heard the mmc 7.5 is the solution to this resolution limit. I have the same card, but mmc 7.5 would not install the TV capture part. I herd that you can change the detectHW=1 to detectHW=0 in the a INI file, in the install directory. I'll try it and let you kknow.

  4. I installed mmc 7.5 over mmc 7.1 with the edited ini file to reflect detectHW=0. Now I have mmc 7.5 and the mmc reg tool lets me change the vertical to a higher setting. Be aware that you'll have to tweak with the settings or you will twice the interlaced artifacts that you normally didn't see with 240 vertical lines. If your trying to convert to Dvix, then I suggest capturing to an uncompressed AVI first, then convert. Unfortunately, you can't change the vertical lines above 240 for AVI profiles with MMC reg tool. I recommend downloading IUVCR from www.iulabs.com. This works great with the ATI cards and lets you change a ton of different resolutions. It also lets you encode to AVI 2.0, which means you can have a AVI file larger than 2gigs. Oh yeah, it also segments your video into different files incase you have FAT 32( the 4 gig file limit). Hope that helps.
