    I have a wmv file that I need to convert to DVD...what is the best tool for this? Thank you.

    It depends on the quality and resolution of the original. WMVs can also have variable framerates, which can make them difficult to convert.

    If the original is at least 640 x 480 then ConvertXtoDVD should be able to do it. FAVC would probably work as well.

    If the resolution is lower, give FAVC a go because you can choose half-D1 for the encoding resolution.

  4. FAVC or DVD Flick are great choices (and they're both freeware). Just be sure to switch the settings for whichever program you choose to "Slower encoding" (which should result in an output file that looks exactly like the input file); and also, in the case of DVD Flick, enable "2 Pass Encoding".

    Just remember the golden rule for converting footage:

    "Crap in, crap out!"
