  1. I tried creating a DVD of SVCD mpeg2 files created from avi files with WinFF. The files all played in VLC Player and the demuxed streams also played. When I plugged them into DVDAuthorGUI I got this discontinuity error that went on forever which I guess has to do with the sample rate. So I tried Muxman as instructed by previous threads about this problem. However, Muxman (at least the free version) keeps rejecting the files. Other forum topics say they only accept elementary streams and these are what I'm trying to input but none of the files are accepted.

You might want to make sure your audio is sampled at 48KHz.

  3. Can I resample the demuxed .mpa (in WinFF or another program?) and then remultiplex it in DVDAuthorGUI or Muxman or do I have to reconvert the mpg from avi in VirtualDub? Is 48KHz only an issue with mpeg2 DVD or SVCD files because I don't recall having this issue when I made a DVD compilation of mpeg1 files?

If in WinFF, what preset would I use to get an mpeg audio output that will mux with the video stream (according to WinFF's documentation the default sampling rate is 44100 and you can enter a different rate - do I have to enter 48000 in converting the file again to NTSC SVCD or can I just resample the audio stream?

I have never used winff, so I couldn't say. I believe you could use ffmpeggui to convert and resample to ac3 though, if you wanted to. You could then use DVDAuthorGUI to remultiplex everything back together.

  5. Anyone have any idea why Muxman still rejects the video stream before even asking for the audio?

  6. Could be one of several things, I suppose. The most likely, I think, would be the framerate. Perhaps you encoded for 23.976fps and never applied pulldown. Perhaps you encoded for 25fps. Resolution would be my next choice. Is it 720x480? You might check the log. It's in the root of the C drive. It might have more information that might be able to pinpoint the problem.

  7. I'll have to take a better look at Muxman later. Resampling the mpa files to 48000 and converting them to ac3 with WinFF worked and the titles were multiplexed in DVDAuthorGUI this time around.
