  1. Hi Everyone

Please could someone help me, I currently take videos of houses and use a SONY DSR-PD170P.
At the moment i don't do my own editing and i have to send the videos to my colleague. My colleague wants each individual clip captured because he finds it easier to edit that way.

I have set my discontinuity threshold to 1, and my MAX AVI size (frames) to 11500.
I have done a bit of research and from what i gathered if the discontinuity threshold is set to 1 then each clip will be captured in a separate file but when i capture my videos it captures the entire video in one file. Each video is about 8-10minutes long.

Appreciate if someone could help me out

    Thanks!

is there any discontinuity? did you stop recording between takes? strange it should have worked and i've never had it not work with any miniDV cam - jvc, sony, panasonic, or canon.

change - set max avi size - to 1000000. 11500 frames limits files to about 6.5 minutes.

for win7 run winDv as admin and have it installed in a folder other than /program files or /program files(x86).

Are you using a new tape, or is it a previously used tape? If it's previously used, it's already got a signal & timecode on the tape. Your camcorder may be doing an insert, using the existing timecode, so there's no discontinuity. Maybe you can set the camcorder to overwrite the timecode, instead.

    Or maybe I'm hallucinating today.

Check a tape. Does the time code change for each new clip? Or is the time code continuous?

I used to have a PD150 but sold it. I'm trying to remember the time code options.
