I used Nero 7 to create a DVD Compilation. I burned the DVD , and deleted the files from my computer once the dvd was burned. When I played back the DVD ( on any player or even my computer ), there is 5 slight pauses throughout the 2 hour Compilation DVD. I have figured out that each pause on the DVD is where you can place Transitions. I loaded the DVD into DVD Shrink , then tried to burn the DVD again ( make a copy ) and the 5 pauses ( freezes )are still there. But what I did notice is :

The little preview screen on DVD Shrink ( bottom left corner , once I have loaded the DVD into DVD Shrink ) plays the preview of what it is about to burn with no freezes at all - it plays straight through just fine with no glitches , no freezing , at all. The DVD Shrink Preview Screen plays the DVD perfect , then when I try to burn the DVD - there are the pauses again.

I am so frustrated , I have worked on this DVD Compilation all summer , and now I am having this problem. I sure hope it is easy to fix.

    Can anyone help ?

It these are 5 different videos then you have five different titles, hence the pause. Your HDD is fast enough that the pauses aren't really noticeable, but a DVD player reads much slower, and there are.

Hopefully you have learned a few things from this experience

    1. Most toys lie, and Nero is a toy when it comes to authoring.

    2. Always test your discs in a real environment. Your PC is fine for testing navigation, but not for testing how a real player plays a disc

    3. Never delete your source files until you are sure that the project is finished. No project is finished until it is properly tested.

Is there anyway that I can perfectly join these 5 videos together so that that play as 1 ? Any editing program that I can buy ? There seems like there could be a way to turn this dvd into a 1 stream , no chapters dvd. thanks for the tips so far. Ben

It depends on what the video types are. To join them using simple tools like AVIDemux they must have, at least, the same resolution and framerate, and usually the same basic audio settings. Some programs insist that the audio settings be identical.

Depending on the format, you might be able to use a Non-Linear Editor such as Vegas or Premiere (or the consumer versions, Movie Studio and Elements respectively) to produce a single output.

However, only a few video formats tend to join nicely without audio sync issues. These are formats designed for editing, such as DV, or the lossless compression types. Formats such as Xvid/Divx/FLV etc are not designed for editing and joining, and can be difficult to get good results from.
