    Hi:

New to the forum with a question I'm hoping someone can help me with. In my obsession with trying to change the macrovision setting on my DVD Recorder, I entered into the options editor using the 1397139 code after highlighting the 16:9 widescreen option and changed some of the option codes. I did write everything down before doing this and actually had been playing around with it over the last two days, always setting things back after something didn't work. This time, I changed the second number of all the options except option 5 and now when I try to reenter the editor, the code 1397139 at the 16:9 screen doesn't work anymore. The DVD recorder is also now booting up with the LG logo instead of the Zenith logo, so it thinks it's an LG player now. My guess is if I knew what the trick is for the LG to get into the editor, I might be able to get back in there and change everything back.

I tried searching to see if anything like this was addressed anywhere, but didn't find anything. Anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks!

You could try reflashing the firmware, if it is available from the manufacturer. Aside from that, I don't have any ideas.

As a side note, except for older versions of the Lite-On players, I'm not aware of any that would allow for MV to be disabled.

    Thanks, Krispy Kritter:

I will see if I can get ahold of the firmware and try that. I downloaded WinHex thinking I'd create another hex file, but I'm getting into an area I'm not familiar with and am afraid I'll be in even deeper than I am now...

Thanks for the info on the MV too. I should have left well enough alone when I couldn't figure it out initially. I'm spending way too much time on it and have a million other things I should be doing instead.

    Thanks again.
