I'm not quite sure where this question might go. I have a Toshiba D-VR4XSU DVDPlayer/Recorder, and DVD playback is fine, I get both audio and video. But when trying a VHS, audio is clear, but instead of video, I get a blue screen. Funny thing is, this only seemed to be the case with recorded VHS tapes. I put in a store bought VHS tape and it seemed to work ok. Also both tapes worked fine on a different VCR. Any idea what might be wrong with my machine? I also tried one of those head cleaner cassettes but it didn't seem to work. Thanks for any help!

Look if you find how to adjust tracking. I think that is your problem. I bought new VHS machine (Sony) and experienced the same problem with one tape.
I think they all have automatic tracking adjustment, but on some tapes it does not work.
I ended up borrowing older VHS machine, with manual adjustment, to copy tape to my computer. -
