Trouble burning/detecting DVD+R DL

Just got a 7.17 GB .iso and trying to use Nero 7 to burn to Memorex DVD+R DL. Set Nero to DVD9 (instead of DVD5) and used the Burn image option, however my Lite On DVDRW LH-20A1P is not detecting the media. What gives?? Am I doing something wrong? Also tried CopyToDVD much to the same effect. And Googled around to no avail. Is it the media? Thought Memorex would be good. This burner is SUPPOSED to support DVD+R DL and I haven't come across anyone saying otherwise. Any help much appreciated! Thanks

Try with Verbatim DVD+R DL media,and burn with IMGBurn instead...

Yeah, I'd heard folks on here say they were the best for DL DVDs. Is there any possible way to use some or all of my present configuration (burner/software/media)? Almost seems like it's a burner issue... but that would have been my last guess (since they seem highly rated & reviewed).

Contrary to what some burner manufacturers, disc manufacturers and software manufacturers may say, dual layer burning is not a simple or completely dependable process at present. So far, only the Verbatim DL plus discs have shown a fairly high rate of success. And ImgBurn seems to improve on the odds of getting a successful burn.

Other combinations and discs may work, but with the price of failure so high, I wouldn't risk them. JMO.
