  1. Here's my list of things I'm working with:
    > JVC GR-DVM90 mini-dv camcorder
    > Pinnacle Systems IEEE-1394 video capture card
    > Pinnacle Systems Studio DV Version 7 software program
    > Hewlett Packard Vectra P2/350Mhz, 192mb sys memory, Windows 2000 Professional OS
    > Hewlett Packard 9500 series CD-Writer (burner)
    > Stand alone Sony DVP-S360 DVD Player

    Here's what I'm doing:
I'm recording my own video using my JVC camcorder. I download my video onto my computer's hard drive using Studio 7. The native video is in a 720x480 29.97frames/sec NTSC AVI format. Using Studio 7, I convert the native video into a MPG DVD compatible 720x480 6000Kbits/sec format.

    What I want to do:
The MPG files play beautifully on my computer. But is it possible to burn a CDR or CDRW disc and have it also play on my stand Sony DVD player? A tall, twisted, complex request but interested in seeing if its possible.

    My questions include:
    1) Is the process as easy as just slapping MPG files onto a compatible CD-R or CD-RW disc? Or do I need some type of special software program to take over the CD-burning process, so that it formats the disc properly?

    2) If it is as easy as slapping MPG files onto a disc, I’m seeing on vcdhelp.com that the brand on CD-R / CD-RW does matter in order to get things to play. Recommendations...?

Any help towards a possible solution is appreciated!
